“Manchester City have future strategy without me”

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has recently spoken about the future of the club when he won’t be there to guide them.

His form took a hit during the 2019/20 campaign, but they still managed to retain the league cup and finished second in the league. However, then Manchester City won back-to-back Premier League titles and restored their dominance.

In the last six seasons, Guardiola has won 4 English Premier League titles, 1 FA Cup, 4 EFL Cups and 2 FA Community Shields with Manchester City. The only major trophy he hasn’t been able to lift in his City career so far is the UEFA Champions League title.

Pep Guardiola’s current contract with City will expire at the end of the season. No contract renewal talks have yet taken place and if City fail to reach an agreement with the Spanish manager within the next nine months, he will be a free agent.

Therefore, when asked about his future at the club, Pep Guardiola said: “The club knows exactly what the goal is, the next step.”

He also added: “There will be no problem, I am 100% convinced. They know what the strategy is, what they have to do for now, the day after tomorrow, after the World Cup, next season and next season.”

Guardiola explained that City has a solid base and does not depend on one person. The Spanish coach fully trusts City’s management to move the club forward even after his departure.

Previously, Guardiola expressed his desire to manage a selection. Many think that he probably won’t extend his stay at the Etihad. However, the City management surely want him to continue at the club. They will probably sit down with him to renew his contract during the World Cup in Qatar.

But if they fail to retain the Spaniard, there are some managers that City have already monitored. According to ESPN, City including Bayern manager Julian Naglesmann, Palace’s Patrick Viera and his former captain Vincent Company.
