Manchester City, defending English Premier League champions, are interested in signing German international Kai Havertz from Chelsea.
After spending time at the Alemannia Mariadorf and Alemannia Aachen academies, Kai Havetrtz joined Bayer Leverkusen’s youth setup at a young age.
Hevertz then graduated from the Leverkusen academy and was promoted to the senior team. He later became Leverkusen’s youngest debutant and also the Bundesliga’s top scorer. Kai Havertz established himself as one of the key players of the German club.
Due to his huge potential, he was followed by many top European clubs. Finally, it was Chelsea who managed to sign the German player for a fee of 84 million euros. In his first season with Chelsea, Havertz scored the winner in the UEFA Champions League final against Manchester City, helping the Blues win their second UCL title.
Manchester City interested in Kai Havertz
Despite scoring the goal that helped Chelsea lift their second UCL win, Havertz has been highly inconsistent in his Chelsea career thus far. As the seasons have gone on, he has had less playing time and has struggled with his form.
Now, according to a report by journalist Simon Phillips, EPL club Manchester City have recently shown interest in signing the German international.
Manchester City currently have one of the best squads in the world. They have great depth at all positions. However, that does not stop them from signing more talented players.
Kai Havetrtz is one of the most versatile players in the world. The striker can play in any position above and also has the ability to play as a number 10. This is one of the biggest reasons for City’s interest.
The pressure is already building on Kai Havertz and he will have to deliver sooner or later. So far this season, the German has only scored two goals in fourteen games.
His form will also keep German national team coach Hansi Flick under pressure. Havettz is one of the key players in the German national team. Here he is expected to start with Germany in the next World Cup in Qatar 2022. His performance will be key to Germany’s progression.
