Man United sale progressing as £5bn valuation predicted

Man United, having admitted that they welcome the investment, is a club that is attracting a lot of interest.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, after years of fan discontent, the current owners, the Glazer family, appear to be getting closer to selling the 20-time league winners.

Confirming their plans for the future via the club’s official website last year, co-CEOs Avram and Joel Glazer announced they had started “a process to explore strategic alternatives for the club”.

“The process is designed to enhance the future growth of the club, with the ultimate goal of positioning the club to capitalize on opportunities both on the pitch and commercially,” the Glazers told fans.

“As part of this process, the Board will consider all strategic alternatives, including a new investment in the club, a sale or other transactions involving the Company.”

Man United fans have expressed their desire for the Glazer family to sell the club.

Following the announcement from the club’s owners, interest, particularly from American investors, appears to be increasing, and according to Jon Smith, a man who was integral to the formation of the Premier League in 1992, talks of a possible sale are underway. progressing with the final valuation of the club is likely to be £5bn or more.

“There are definitely going to be some big global moves, which is one of the reasons why I think American investors will look to take a position in some of the biggest clubs, including Man United,” Smith said in an exclusive interview.

“His potential sale is still in the works. There’s a lot of American interest, but when it comes to valuation, I’d be very surprised if the final price didn’t start with a number five.”
