Man United identify bargain De Gea replacement as future is uncertain

David de Gea’s future at Man United is uncertain at the moment and the Premier League giants have set out to find his replacement.

The Spanish goalkeeper has no contract at Old Trafford at the end of the season, but the Red Devils have the option to extend it, the Daily Mail reports.

However, the 32-year-old is not an Erik ten Hag-style goalkeeper and therefore De Gea could be allowed to leave Old Trafford at the end of this campaign.

United is already looking for his replacement and a name has already appeared.

According to Todofichajes, Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Yann Sommer is a target for Man United as the Swiss international is also out of contract at the end of the season.

United are reportedly looking into offering the 33-year-old a pre-contract before signing him for free at the end of the campaign.

The Swiss goalkeeper would be a great short-term replacement for De Gea, but if Manchester United can find a long-term target, that would be the best option.
