Luis Diaz raises fears of potentially serious Liverpool injury after early sub

With Liverpool’s midfield injury problems appearing to gradually subside, the last thing the club’s medical department would like to see is those concerns moving further up the pitch.

Luis Diaz’s early withdrawal from a meeting with Arsenal (as reported in a tweet by James Pearce), following an entanglement with Thomas Partey, appeared to be a precaution, though further evidence could yet yield a more serious reality.

The Merseysiders are currently down 2-1 at the Emirates (at the time of writing) after wasting a better showing in the first 45 minutes of action.

Getting another draw and hopefully a win against one of the fittest teams in the English top flight will present a challenge and a half for the visitors, especially without our Colombian sensation on the left flank.

That said, we shouldn’t discount the contribution that Bobby Firmino could make in light of the Brazilian’s excellent 2022/23 campaign so far.

In a month that will demand a lot from this Liverpool squad, of course, we can hardly afford to lose such a key player for the remainder of October or, worse, beyond.
