Luis Diaz enjoys sights of New York before Colombia international duty – Liverpool FC

After Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Chelsea was postponed, Luis Diaz took the opportunity to spend time in New York, before joining Colombia for international duty.

The Reds’ Champions League victory over Ajax on Tuesday was their last game of the month, with the remainder of this weekend’s league games followed by an international break.

In total, 28 Liverpool players have been called up to represent their countries, with Diaz included in Colombia’s squad to face Guatemala in New Jersey and Mexico in California.

And the Liverpool winger has already arrived in the US, with him and his partner sharing photos of their time in New York.

Having started every game for the Reds so far this season, it appears the club have allowed him to leave before his international commitments.

Diaz, his partner and their young daughter were photographed admiring some of the best views in New York on Friday and Saturday, with Liverpool no. 23 ready to join the Colombian squad in the next few days.

It’s unclear if any of Diaz’s teammates also had time off this week.

Colombia did not qualify for the World Cup, meaning Diaz will have valuable time to recover while a host of his teammates compete at Qatar 2022 later this year.

For this international break, Colombia’s clash with Guatemala takes place in the early hours of next Sunday (BST), before taking on Mexico three days later.

With another four days until the Reds take on Brighton on Saturday, October 1, one would think there should be enough turnaround time to allow Klopp to include Diaz early on against the Seagulls.

Long-haul flights are far from ideal, however, as Diaz will play a vital role in Liverpool’s busy October schedule.

For now, though, it’s good to see Diaz enjoying some well-deserved family time!
