Luis Campos comments on Lionel Messi’s future

PSG news: Lionel Messi has joined the Parisians after leaving Barcelona during the 2021 summer transfer window. The Argentina international has struggled during his debut season at the Parc des Princes, scoring just three goals in 26 appearances in the league.

The sporting director of Paris St. Germain, Luis Campos, opens up about the future of Lionel Messi at the Parc des Princes. He also revealed that he recently had talks with the superstar about a possible contract extension.

Speaking to RMC (via Fabrizio Romano), Campos said: “I asked Messi if he wanted to stay and I told him that I hope he stays here during my tenure here. [3 years]. I am very satisfied with Leo”.

The Blaugrana president, Joan Laporta, wants the Argentine international to finish his career at the Camp Nou. He said: “I feel indebted to Leo Messi. I would like him to finish his career with the Barça shirt and to be applauded in all the stadiums.

Messi spent 17 years as a professional footballer at the Camp Nou between 2004 and 2021. He made 520 league appearances during his time in Spain, scoring 474 goals in the process.

The 35-year-old attacker helped the Blaugrana win more than 30 major trophies, including 10 La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League trophies. Messi also won six Ballon d’Ors and eight Pichichi awards at the Camp Nou.
