Louis van Gaal will come out of retirement to manage Portugal – Man United News And Transfer News

Like it or loathe it, former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will rarely leave you without an opinion.

The former Red Devils coach announced earlier in the year that he had been battling prostate cancer and that leading the Netherlands to the World Cup would be his last coaching job.

“You don’t die of prostate cancer, at least not 90 percent of the time,” he said (via sportingnews.com).

“Usually it is other underlying diseases that kill you. But he had a rather aggressive way… So you have a lot of management to do to be able to go through life.

“I have been through everything.

“I had 25 radiation treatments. Then I had to wait five or six months to see if it had done its job. Had.”

But with the Oranje’s submission to Argentina bringing to a premature end what would have been the last tournament of his career, the twinkle in the Dutch maestro’s eye has yet to fade.

He is dreaming of his next job.

“I am retired again. But if [Portugal] call me, I hear you. That’s all I can say,” he told Goal.com.

Portugal is without a coach after letting Fernando Santos go at the end of the World Cup.

The Iberian team suffered a resounding defeat at the hands of Morocco in the Quarterfinals.

Without a doubt, Portugal would be considered one of the favorites for the next World Cup in 2026, when most of the current team will have reached their prime of play.

Among them, United stars Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot, who joined the club after Van Gaal’s departure.

More Portugal internationals could soon join the Old Trafford fold, with goalkeeper Diogo Costa, winger Rafael Leao and forwards Joao Félix and Gonçalo Ramos all rumored to be on United’s shopping list.
