Manchester United legend Louis Saha has criticized Fred’s performance against Newcastle United.
The Brazilian started his second game of the campaign and was lousy at all times.
In an interview with Boyle Sport, Saha stated:
“If someone thinks they shouldn’t approve it, they shouldn’t be in a Premier League team.”
“Fred has been criticized again because there are two roles, balancing the team where you have to be solid, but you have to help your teammates from the beginning.
“There are times when Fred has a chance to pass the ball forward, but he takes a touch or two too many. Those things can be noticed, and that is a problem.”
“Fred is playing for Manchester United, he is not in League Two, and everyone will have an opinion on his performances.”
“Every player has to do more at Manchester United, not just Fred.”
“But if Roy Keane was playing today and he was part of this team, he would be screaming, even if you’re playing well.”
On Sunday, United missed the quality of Christian Eriksen in midfield.
Fred does not offer the technical security and creativity that the Dane offers.
With many games to play, the Brazilian will continue to be an important player in the team and must seek to improve.
United take on Tottenham Hotspur in a crucial game at Old Trafford tomorrow night. Ten Hag will have to make a decision on who to start with along with Casemiro.
