Liverpool transfer target confirms ‘concrete interest’ in him this summer

Liverpool was linked with countless midfielders this summer and one of the rumored targets has confirmed his interest in him and has spoken of his feelings about the possible signing.

Speaking to TV 2 in Norway, Sander Berge said: “There was a lot of interest, concrete interest, you weighed things up a bit, it had to work both for the club and for me, and it didn’t happen.

“It’s always nice to sit in a position and know that there were clubs that were very interested. There’s nothing negative about clubs of that size being mentioned, but you shouldn’t put too much into it.

“It can catch fire for very little, and it’s not necessarily always correct, even if there were big, interesting clubs in the picture. Not everything on the internet is true.

The 24-year-old was obviously flattered to have had so much interest in him and clubs like ours, but he seems to be downplaying the rumors here.

With such a public wish and then the club’s declaration that we were chasing a new midfielder, there was always going to be a plethora of possible targets.

The Sheffield United man was certainly one of the most discussed names in the newspaper and online columns, but as he put it, “not everything on the internet is true”.

Whether the former Genk man will be on our radar again this summer is unknown, but it certainly seems like he is at least one player the club knows about, as a possible new recruit.

With 11 appearances, three goals and three assists this season already, if the Norway international maintains this level of performance, we may be fools to ignore him.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but with all eyes on Jude Bellingham, it looks like any other potential signings are taking a backseat for now.
