Liverpool transfer news: Joao Gomes being scouted

Liverpool have been keeping an eye on Flamengo midfielder Joao Gomes but there have been no official approaches or talks for the player so far, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Reds could do with changes to their midfield at the moment, following a rocky start to the season, and Gomes is one of the names to emerge recently as a possible target for the club.

Romano is aware of the speculation and admits there is some interest from Liverpool, with scouts from the Merseyside giants monitoring the 21-year-old Brazilian.

So far, however, his interest has gone no further, with Romano expressing his belief that the youngster is not yet ready to move to a big club like Liverpool.

Joao Gomes has been signed by Liverpool

The Italian transfer news reporter admits he rates Gomes as a very good player, but it might still be a bit early for him to move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

“Liverpool have monitored Gomes with their scouts as many other major European clubs have done, at the moment there is nothing more to this story, no official offer or negotiation,” Romano wrote in his exclusive column for CaughtOffside.

“I think he’s a very good player, but he needs some steps before he’s ready for Liverpool’s level.”

Liverpool fans are hoping the club can find a midfield solution soon enough, and Gomes certainly looks like a great young talent worth keeping an eye on in the coming months.
