Liverpool told ‘incredible’ target ‘could be the mainstay’ of the side for a decade

Alan Hutton has suggested that Jude Bellingham could be a ‘mainstay’ for Liverpool for the next decade if the Reds manage to land the £132m-valued star.

The Merseysiders will be part of a long queue to sign the Englishman in the coming summer window, should he be prepared to make the leap away from the German top flight.

“You have to look at Bellingham as a long-term investment. You’re not buying a player for a couple of seasons,” the former Aston Villa man told Football Insider.

“It is a signing for the next 10 years. Bellingham could be the mainstay of that team.

“Yes, £132m is high, but I think it’s worth it. He is so realistic. Nothing seems to faze him. To play at such a high level at such a young age is really amazing.”

The midfielder’s entourage may well decide to advise him to stay on for another year, as Graeme Bailey pointed out was a possibility, in a bid to follow Erling Haaland’s stellar example.

Such an eventuality may be better for us financially, although it would do little to resolve a serious concern for Liverpool when it comes to the state of our midfield.

With Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner all having less than a year left on their contracts, we know it is possible the club will lose as many as three midfielders next summer, which would leave us in a difficult position no matter how fans feel about the mentioned options.

As far as we’re concerned, serious quality is an absolute must for a potential transfer option, a box Bellingham ticks firmly, while we also need another midfield signing with a high ceiling of talent, if not the ability to have an immediate impact to such an extent. What would we expect from the Borussia Dortmund favourite?
