Liverpool terminating Arthur loan deal?

Liverpool news: English Premier League side Liverpool FC are reportedly unimpressed with Brazilian midfielder Arthur and are considering terminating his loan deal.

Arthur Melo, a Gremio academy graduate, began his senior team career with the Brazilian club. After establishing himself in the Gremio setup, Arthur played a pivotal role in Gremio’s Copa Libertadores victory.

His constant performances with Gremio helped him get many luxury contracts. Arthur finally decided to join the Spanish giants Barcelona. Despite having a good start to his career at Barca, he failed to develop his potential and was sold to Juventus in 2020.

In the following two years, Arthur spent time at Turin, but his performances were never consistent enough to make him a key player in the team.

Liverpool news: Liverpool cancel Arthur loan deal?

According to the Italian outlet, Tuttomercatoweb Liverpool are considering terminating Arthur’s loan deal in January when they have a replacement for him.

Previously, Thiago Alacantara, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin suffered injuries that greatly weakened Liverpool’s midfield.

This forced Liverpool to look for a short-term option in the central midfield position. So they went to Turin and signed Brazilian midfielder Arthur on loan for one season.

After signing for Liverpool, Arthur was highly praised by the German strategist. He also asked the media to give him some time to settle into the Liverpool structure.

However, now it seems that things have changed drastically. Arthur has failed to impress German coach Jurgen Klopp so far. Things are so bad at the moment that Klopp has asked to send the midfield back to Turin the first chance they get.

Meanwhile, Arthur is also not in Juventus’ plans. Even if Arthur sees his loan deal cancelled, it will be very difficult for him to appear in Massimiliano Allegri’s team again.

Liverpool paid Juventus a £3.9m loan fee for the midfielder’s services. The Merseyside club also have the chance to sign the Brazilian permanently if he pays £32.4m at the end of the season.

Since his loan spell, Arthur played just 13 minutes in Liverpool’s 4–1 loss to Napoli. He was an unused substitute in Liverpool’s last game.
