The task ahead of Liverpool is simple: improve on a recent record of two defeats in as many games in the Reds’ last two visits to Napoli.
With Carlo Ancelotti and Kalidou Koulibaly both gone since the Merseysiders’ last loss at the Stadio Armando Diego Maradona (a 2-0 loss), the temptation will be to assume an easier task awaits them.
Jurgen Klopp and his team will know otherwise and will have to prepare for the cauldron that awaits them in the western suburb of Fuorigrotta.

Ahead of Alisson Becker between the sticks, Virgil van Dijk stands guard on the baseline supported by a revamped Joe Gomez who has shone since his return from injury ward.
In front of the pair, Fabinho protects the back four and completes a midfield trio also made up of Harvey Elliott and James Milner.
A change has been made to the three forwards with Darwin Nunez swapping places with Bobby Firmino as the Brazilian joins the fray alongside Mo Salah and Luis Diaz.
Fans will have to wait a moment longer to see either Arthur Melo or Thiago Alcantara start a game, although the sight of the pair on the bench will be welcome amid ongoing injury concerns.
