Liverpool sign Everton ‘keeper days before the Merseyside derby

Liverpool and Everton Women meet at Anfield at the end of the month and our preparations for the match have been bolstered by a Blue.

According to the club’s website: ‘Liverpool FC Women can today confirm the signing of Faye Kirby.

“The 18-year-old goalkeeper comes to the Reds from neighboring Everton, where she rose through the academy system.”

Faye Kirby will join Rachael Laws, Eartha Cumings, Charlotte Clarke (on loan) and Rylee Foster (recovering from a serious neck injury) as part of the goalkeeping ranks in Matt Beard’s squad for next season.

The former Toffee, who already represents her country at under-19 level, will certainly be one to watch in the future and may come back to bite Brian Sorensen’s side in the long run.

The Crosby-born goalkeeper was given jersey number 22 and will be out to impress for years to come, although it is unlikely she will appear at the exhibition event which will be held in the men’s team’s traditional home.

Returning to the WSL for next season (and hopefully many more to follow) will mean there will be a higher quality of players interested in joining the Reds.

By hosting games at Anfield and fans coming to the game, more funds can be raised for the team and hopefully that will also relate to more success on the pitch.
