Liverpool preparing £79.8m bid for World Cup winner

Liverpool are set to step up their search for Benfica star Enzo Fernandez by submitting an offer in the winter transfer window.

Fernández has quickly become one of the sought-after talents and exciting prospects in world soccer after an outstanding World Cup campaign with Argentina, in which he was crowned world champion.

The 21-year-old was also awarded Young Player of the Tournament. He appeared in all 10 games; five as a starter and five as a substitute. Fernández picked up a goal and an assist throughout the campaign.

Throughout the tournament, he has been linked with Liverpool and is seen as the perfect signing to bolster their midfield, which has been mediocre this season and significantly depleted compared to other positions.
