Liverpool predicted team v Napoli: Injury blow forces unpopular change as Klopp swaps in two stars for Naples trip

Liverpool are set to pay a visit to Napoli for their Champions League group stage opener and will be looking to get off to a comparatively stronger start to life in Europe than occurred domestically.

A meeting with Napoli in Italy has not worked out well in our favor historically under Jurgen Klopp, although a big win at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona would help allay growing concerns about the club’s season.

A successful run of four games in all competitions before the international break would also restore faith in the team’s ability to secure the silver medal once again this term.

In front of Alisson Becker between the sticks, we’ll back Virgil van Dijk to join Joe Gomez on the baseline with Andy Robertson taking his place from Kostas Tsimikas.

An injured Jordan Henderson, sidelined for up to three weeks, and a doubt in Fabio Carvalho mean James Milner is likely to be an unpopular addition to the first XI alongside Fabinho and Harvey Elliott.

The attacking line should choose itself once again, with the German tactician taking a front three of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah from a goalless draw at Goodison Park.
