Liverpool out of the race for midfielder giving English rivals free run

Liverpool are in dire need of a new midfielder, but the Reds are now out of the running for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, which leaves Chelsea with a free run for the 21-year-old.

Both clubs were interested in Caicedo this window as Brighton turned down a £55m offer from the Blues as the Seagulls declared the midfielder not for sale this month, the Daily Mail reports.

However, the Premier League club is open to selling to Ecuador as an international in the summer and has placed a massive £100m valuation on the player’s head to prevent the bigger clubs from making moves.

Regarding Liverpool, this has worked as according to Kevin Palmer, Liverpool are now out of the running for Caicedo due to the large transfer fee involved.

Both Premier League giants need a midfielder soon and it looks like Liverpool will now concentrate on trying to recruit Jude Bellingham.

Chelsea will likely move through Caicedo again, either during this window or in the summer remains to be seen. The Blues are likely to target the likes of Declan Rice and the London club will continue their impressive spending spree.
