Liverpool ‘monitoring’ has ‘€120m’ man as many clubs ‘have fallen in love’

There were a number of players at this year’s World Cup who were not linked to the Reds before the tournament started, but Liverpool seem to have started monitoring some of them during and since the end of the competition in Qatar.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano for CaughtOffside, we are one of many who are now apparently interested in Enzo Fernández: “Premier League clubs, La Liga clubs… A lot of them have fallen in love with Enzo.

“He has a termination clause of 120 million euros in his contract, so it will not be easy for any club, Benfica will try to keep him at least until the end of the current season.

Liverpool are following a lot of midfielders, he is one of them.”

The Benfica man was awarded the young player of the tournament award as his nation claimed the biggest prize in international football and that will always mean his profile has been raised to the point that many more clubs will now be aware of his talent.

However, with so many links to Jude Bellingham, it seems highly unlikely that we’ll be able to afford both midfielders at the same time, so it’s possible we’re lining up the Argentinian as a Plan B for the Borussia Dortmund teenager.

The 21-year-old only signed for the Portuguese side in the summer, so they would surely be keen to keep him for more than six months, even if big offers start pouring in for him.

However, the competition for his signature and a fee of over £100m should be enough to see that this won’t be an easy deal for the Reds to get over the line.
