Liverpool make Ajax statement ahead of continued football cancellations

Liverpool have already confirmed that this weekend’s clash with Wolves has been postponed, following the Queen’s death, but have given more information about the upcoming Champions League game with Ajax.

In an email sent to all supporters who were scheduled to attend the game against the Midlands team, our club provided an update on European football: “We are awaiting further guidance from UEFA regarding Tuesday’s game.” If the game continues, your NFC pass will automatically be upgraded to Ajax in the coming days.

There was also an update on the ticket sales section of the website which read: “Following the postponement of the Liverpool V Wolves match, ticket sales at 14:00 for Ajax, scheduled for today Friday 9th September for ticket holders subscriptions and members, has been postponed.

If we receive notification over the weekend that the Ajax match will also be postponed, the sale to season ticket holders and members will not take place.

“However, if the Ajax game is not postponed over the weekend, the sale will take place from 8.15am on Monday 12 September.”

It’s great ‘wait and see’ news, but it certainly doesn’t show that there has been a firm decision made by us or UEFA on this matter, yet.

If the match is postponed, Jurgen Klopp’s side could face up to a month without a match, as we also expect updates on next week’s Premier League matches.

The upcoming international break could mean the Reds won’t play again until we meet Brighton on October 1.

However, given the recent form and results and the boss saying we have to reinvent ourselves, maybe this break could really serve us well.

Give time to play with formations, allow more players to come back from injuries and rest some of the most used players within the team.

This period could be something of a blessing in disguise.
