Liverpool legend rejects FSG myth that may be harming Jurgen Klopp’s players

Diagnosing the cause behind Liverpool’s problems on the pitch has inevitably led fans and pundits to a lack of investment in the midfield department in recent years.

There have also been some tentative suggestions that the behind-the-scenes uncertainty regarding FSG’s search for a possible successor to the helm might be having a negative influence on the team, a thought roundly rejected by Robbie Fowler.

“From a fan standpoint, you can have your theories and wonder what could happen, but I don’t think the players [will be concerned]”, the Englishman told the Echo.

“But I can’t speak for everyone right now, but your job, as a player, is to go and do what you have to do.

“Everything else is irrelevant. Your focus is getting the best results for the club and that’s okay, there’s a bit of selfishness in wanting to do a good job for yourself.

“So when we start looking not for reasons but for excuses, I think we’ll drift away a bit. Regardless of who enters and whether the club wants to sell or not, whether it is 20%, 40% or 60%, the players are not concerned!

The current status of the investment search remains unclear, although it is understood that Fenway remains open to the prospect of a full sale despite reports that John Henry and company are simply leaning towards selling a minority stake in the club. .

With the likes of Newcastle United being propelled into the top four and Chelsea also benefiting from new ownership, it’s only a matter of time until Liverpool’s sustainable policy goes from the most enviable to the most outdated in the Premier League.

That’s not to say that a shift to the dispersal approach of the Blues is the ideal next step, of course, and we certainly wouldn’t want to trade FSG for any entity with ties to regimes responsible for human rights abuses, no matter the competition. Benefits.

In the meantime, we hope our current crop can remain focused on the task ahead, while Champions League qualification continues to hang in the balance.
