Liverpool finally appoint a new club doctor who will travel to Dubai

At last, Liverpool have found a new club doctor and the new man in charge is set to join the first-team squad immediately, once the World Cup break is over.

As reported by Paul Joyce for The Times: “Liverpool have appointed Jonathan Power as their new club doctor and he will join the first team at their training camp in Dubai next month.”

Since the departure of Dr. Jim Moxon in the summer, we have had a longstanding vacancy, which was finally filled after a four month wait.

Given the influx of injuries our team has already seen this season, the arrival of the West Derby-born replacement will be music to the ears of many of our supporters.

With previous roles for the FA, England youth teams, Leeds Rhinos and Brentford, it looks like we have finally decided what to do with our medical department going forward.

Given the recent turmoil at the head of the club’s recruitment and ownership process, it’s good to see that one area has been ironed out and we can now expect word on the other departments.

There will always be more attention paid to who owns the Reds and who will be in charge of finding new players, but having a doctor was certainly a short-term issue that needed fixing.
