Liverpool could be set to seal January transfer ‘soon’ with testing proposal

Liverpool will reportedly soon submit an offer for the services of Sofyan Amrabat ‘which would cause Fiorentina to ‘waver’ in their resolve to retain the midfielder’.

This comes courtesy of Corriere Fiorentino (via Sport Witness) and the outlet suggests the offer in question could be closer to €40m (£35.3m).

“Amrabat is gaining ‘a lot of attention’ after his performances in Qatar and Liverpool are one of the clubs ‘over him’,” Sean Lunt wrote for the publication.

“That courtship is accelerating rapidly, and according to what has been leaked from ‘circles very close to the player’, ‘soon’ they could present a proposal ‘not far from 40 million euros’.

“That is an offer that, if made official, would be very close to the figures that would make Fiorentina ‘hesitate’ in their decision to keep the midfielder.”

The Merseysiders are understood to be particularly keen on securing a new addition to the midfield department with Jurgen Klopp himself reportedly at the helm.

A fee in the region of £30-40m would certainly fit the bill for Liverpool ahead of a big money move for a Jude Bellingham or Enzo Fernandez caliber addition to the middle of the park.

Of course, we should be reasonably wary of transfers after a World Cup, with fans rightly pointing to Salif Diao and El-Hadji Diouf as leading examples of why tournament form should be ignored.

Regardless, the Moroccan international was phenomenal in Qatar, impressing against top-tier opposition France, Spain and Belgium, which should offer at least an indication of the quality we would be bringing on board.
