Liverpool have confirmed that their team will travel to Italy for the opening Champions League game in Napoli, with 21 players flying for Wednesday’s tie.
The Reds kick off their European campaign this week, with a trip to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to take on Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli.
A seventh official meeting, and the fifth under Jurgen Klopp, presents an opportunity to put domestic difficulties aside and fuel another successful journey through the Champions League this term.
Injuries have plagued Liverpool for the first month of the season, and it’s no different as the club confirm their traveling squad for the Group A clash.
Thiago is part of the squad, having returned to full training earlier in the week, but Jordan Henderson is among those who will miss out after suffering a hamstring injury.
The captain joined Ibrahima Konate, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Calvin Ramsay and Caoimhin Kelleher on the injured list, with all six players out.
Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain did not even register for the group stage due to long-term injuries, while Fabio Carvalho has not recovered in time from a dead leg.
Curtis Jones also misses not training, with Stefan Bajcetic included instead.
With 20 players in a position to be summoned in a call for the Champions League, only one of those who traveled will be eliminated.
Goalkeeper Harvey Davies is the most likely candidate, with eight outfield players to join Adrian on the substitute bench, while Klopp will consider changes to his starting line-up.
Andy Robertson and Thiago are expected to come on for Kostas Tsimikas and the injured Carvalho, but there could be more alterations in defence, midfield and attack.
Youngsters Melkamu Frauendorf and Isaac Mabaya also flew with the senior team to Napoli, but will play for the U19s in the UEFA Youth League instead.
