Liverpool and Barcelona ‘considering’ swap deal that could see Bobby Firmino head to Camp Nou – report

Liverpool and Barcelona are reportedly considering a swap deal involving Bobby Firmino and Memphis Depay.

Both players are out of contract at their respective clubs at the end of the season and have yet to agree new terms to extend their stays.

Firmino remains an important part of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, but with the Brazilian international now on the wrong side of 30, the German tactician may feel it’s time for the former Hoffenheim man to look for a new challenge.

Meanwhile, Depay was expected to leave the Catalan outfit earlier this summer following Robert Lewandowski’s arrival at Camp Nou, but the Dutchman remained in Spain and could be included as part of a swap deal with the Premier League outfit. That’s according to Somos Fanaticos (via Deportes Mole).

With our No. 9’s contract nearing expiration, it would make sense to see his departure as part of a trade deal rather than letting him go for free at the end of the season.

Hopefully the La Liga giants will adopt a similar mindset about the situation of former Manchester United player Depay.

It’s already clear this season that Firmino still offers a lot to the side, but following the £64m signing of Darwin Nunez and the return to fitness of fan favorite Diogo Jota, I’d expect the Brazilian to see his time of limited game in the coming months. .

That’s not to say the 30-year-old won’t play much football, but he won’t be one of the top names on the team sheet anymore as he has been so many times since Klopp’s arrival at Anfield in 2015.

Depay struggled to establish himself in the Premier League when he joined United from PSV Eindhoven in 2015, but after leaving Old Trafford two years later for Lyon, he enjoyed a successful four-and-a-half-year spell in Ligue 1.

He scored 76 goals and recorded 56 assists in 178 games for the French team.

The 28-year-old has only appeared three times for Barca this season and so may feel it is time to look for another fresh start elsewhere – could Liverpool be the club to bring out the best in the talented striker?
