Lisandro Martinez unable to travel for Argentina’s games due to visa issues – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez could miss a large part of Argentina’s matches during the international break due to visa problems caused by mourning Queen Elizabeth after her death.

With this being the final break before the World Cup, it will be a huge loss for the centre-back and it could be a very short stay with the Argentina team.

According to Sport Witness, Argentina posted an update on its website stating that Martinez has not yet processed his documents to enter the United States.

With the US embassy in England closed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Martinez and Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero will remain in England until they are granted permission to travel.

Both defenders are unable to travel to Miami to join Argentina this week, as the pair are doubtful for their game against Honduras in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Instead, they both stay at the Argentine FA headquarters to train and await visa approval to travel and connect with the rest of the team.

Martinez has been in fine form since the disastrous start to the season which involved defeats to Brighton and Brentford.

Since then, he was associated with Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire fell to the bench.

The new defensive duo have played a key role in the mini-renaissance under Erik ten Hag, which has seen the team ride a four-match winning streak, including wins over Arsenal and Liverpool in recent weeks.

With news that Martinez could be late for international duty, the centre-back may not have a chance to impress Lionel Scaloni this month.

The World Cup starts in November and this break will be the last set of matches before the biggest competition begins.

The duo are expected to be part of training on Thursday, but the outlet claims that it has not been decided yet.
