Lionel Messi worried he might miss the World Cup through injury

Lionel Messi has admitted he is concerned about missing out on this year’s World Cup due to injury.

Di Maria and Dybala of Argentina have suffered major injuries in recent weeks, leading Messi to question his own fitness ahead of the World Cup.

He has missed PSG’s last two games, including the Champions League match against Benfica with a calf injury, but hopes to return to the team before the game against Marseille on Sunday.

He expressed his fitness concerns to DirecTV Sports (via Goal):

“Injuries are a concern. This is a different World Cup played at a different time of year than previous tournaments and it’s so imminent that any little thing that happens to you can force you out.

With what happened with Dybala and Di María, the truth is that you personally worry and are more afraid when you see that kind of thing.
