Marseille striker Bamba Dieng has yet to complete a transfer move since failing his medical in Nice on deadline day.
The French team reached an agreement with Leeds United but the striker changed his mind in the final minutes and decided to sign for Nice, where he failed the medical tests.
“There was a minor issue with the doctor,” a source confirmed.
The 22-year-old is still looking for a new club and Royal Antwerp have shown interest in his services.
Leeds were so sure they had signed Bamba that Yorkshire Club president Andrea Radrizzani himself confirmed the news on Twitter.
“We welcome Bamba Dieng and we will continue to work at Gakpo,” he said.
The Yorkshire club failed to sign either player as Cody Gakpo decided to stay at PSV Eindhoven until at least January.
Leeds then managed to sign 18-year-old Wilfried Gnonto from FC Zurich in the dying hours of the transfer window.
