LFC receive timely triple injury boost ahead of Man City after ‘really sad’ Diaz update

Liverpool received some “really sad” news on the Luis Diaz front when the Colombian suffered a setback with injury during the club’s hot-weather training camp in Dubai.

However, speaking ahead of the Reds’ League Cup clash with Manchester City, Pep Lijnders sent a positive message about the player’s recovery efforts as well as confirming smooth progress for Curtis Jones, Kaide Gordon and Diogo Jota. (as conveyed in tweets by Neil Jones and James Pearce).

With the current options for the three forwards looking more than slim, the prospect of having the Portuguese international back in the relatively near future will be more than welcome at a time when the team’s efforts in the transfer market will be largely focused on strengthen the Midfield Department.

In the meantime, we’ll have to do without top opponents like Manchester City (although word is that Pep Guardiola’s side will have their own selection problems ahead of tomorrow’s tie).

Gordon and Jones are two players with potentially very bright futures at Anfield, although, at 21-years-old, the former is under much more pressure to start delivering, particularly in light of the fact that the likes of Jude Bellingham and Enzo Fernandez are being looked at by the recruiting team to bolster an already star-studded midfield.

Jurgen Klopp will certainly give Scouser time to grow, despite the jury being out on the fans, and we’d love nothing more than to see another local talent succeed on Merseyside.
