LFC ‘make move’ for Gakpo as discussions with PSV are ‘advanced’

Liverpool have made a move for Dutch star Cody Gakpo, that’s according to Paul Joyce of The Times.

The PSV winger impressed for his nation at the World Cup in Qatar recently and the Reds join Manchester United in the race to sign the 23-year-old.

So far for the Eredivisie side this term, the striker has 13 goals and 17 assists in 24 appearances (in all competitions) and discussions on reaching an agreement for his signature are believed to be at an ‘advanced’ stage. ‘.

GOAL’s Neil Jones has also recently revealed that the initial fee for PSV No. 8 will be £37m and the deal could go as high as £50m.

When you consider the obscene price tag on many players today, that rumored fee seems like a bargain, especially when you factor in the Dutchman’s impressive numbers.

One would expect Virgil van Dijk, captain of the Dutch national team, to play a huge role in any potential deal for Gakpo.

The talented winger spoke about making a move to the Premier League recently, while PSV manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy recently admitted that his team will struggle to retain his services in the coming months.

Despite injuries to Luis Díaz and Diogo Jota at the moment, Darwin Núñez has shown his ability to operate on the left of the front three, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain started in the position at Villa Park today.

Although our main priority should be to strengthen our midfield and we are currently quite well supplied in the attacking department, the thought of seeing Gakpo arrive at Anfield is certainly exciting.
