Leeds United took the lead after a defensive howl from Liverpool. Joe Gomez played a poor back pass to goalkeeper Alisson Becker, but the Brazil international slipped and Rodrigo took advantage of it. The Spaniard duly put the ball into an empty goal to make it 1-0.

Liverpool, however, responded strongly by going behind early in the game. The Reds scored the equalizer just 10 minutes later, with Salah finding the goal.

The Egyptian attacker volleyed from close range after Andy Robertson sent a cross into the Leeds United box.

Leeds United then missed two chances to take the lead again. First, Brenden Aaronson came at the end of Rasmus Kristensen’s cross into the Liverpool box, but his shot bounced off the crossbar.

Rodrigo then released Jack Harrison, but the English winger could not beat Alisson with his shot. The Brazilian was forced into action but was up to the task, denying Harrison.

Liverpool came close to finding the lead when Liam Cooper missed a clearance attempt. Mo Salah stole the ball and slipped past Darwin Nunez, but the Uruguayan was parried by Illan Meslier, who made an excellent save.

Nunez then forced another save from Meslier with a curler from outside the area, with the Leeds United goalkeeper deflecting the shot over the crossbar.

Leeds United finally took the lead in the 89th minute of the match. Wilfried Gnonto put the ball into the Liverpool area and Patrick Bamford was the first to reach it. The ball bounced off Bamford and landed on Summerville, who shoved it in with a low shot past Alisson.
