Leeds in pole position to land Portugal left-back in January

TeamTalk journalist Graeme Bailey believes Leeds are one of the favorites to sign Portuguese left-back Raphael Guerreiro.

The 28-year-old is a regular for his national team and Leeds believe he ticks all the boxes to start at left-back for the Yorkshire club.

Leeds have been suffering from a lack of full-backs this season and Pascal Struijk has deployed on the left flank despite not being his strongest position.

“As it stands, it seems that Guerreiro is in no rush to leave Dortmund. Despite no new deal being agreed, he knows clubs like Leeds are watching him. In fact, they attended in the last few weeks,” Bailey said.

“Leeds really like Guerreiro, and they think he would be a perfect fit. If he was available in January, I think they would, but they’re happy to wait for him until the summer.

“However, I would not rule out the possibility of a loan, although Pascal Struijk has performed well: he is more of a defensive full-back than a full-back.

“I think they can look for another option, although the return of Stuart Dallas could help them until the summer.”
