Kylian Mbappe Stars as France Qualify For FIFA World Cup 2022 Quarter-Finals

France vs Poland: Kylian Mbappe shone for the France national soccer team as they recorded an impressive 3-1 win over Poland to secure their place in the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals.

France had booked their place in the round of 16 after finishing top of the points table in Group D. However, the defending FIFA World Cup champions came into this match between France and Poland after their surprising a 1-0 loss to Tunisia in their third and final group game.

Meanwhile, Poland qualified for the round of 16 after finishing second in Group C. Like France, Poland also headed into this match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup after losing defeat in their third match of the group stage.

It was Olivier Giroud who opened the scoring in this France vs. Poland match. Giroud put France ahead in the match just before half-time. The veteran striker scored in the 44th minute, finding the far corner after Kylian Mbappe put it up.

Kylian Mbappe then doubled his team’s lead in this France vs Poland 2022 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 match in the 74th minute of the game.

Antoine Griezmann cleared the ball from the France area. Giroud controlled the ball and then sent it to Ousmane Dembele on the right. Dembélé then stepped into the box before passing the ball to Kylian Mbappe who finished it past Wojciech Szczesny and into the Poland net.

France then set up a three-goal cushion in the 90+1 minute, with Kylian Mbappe putting the ball back into the net. Mbappé received the ball inside the Poland box, and the Frenchman curled the ball into the top corner to send France 3-0 up.

Poland, however, closed the gap in the 90+9 minute of the match. They were sanctioned with a penalty in this France vs Poland match after Dayot Upamecano touched the ball inside the area.

The referee went to the VAR monitor to review the incident and then pointed to the location. Lewandowski stepped up to take the shot, but his effort was saved by Hugo Lloris. But Lloris was well off his line and therefore the shot was retaken. This time, Lewandowski made no mistake and put the ball into the net.
