Kostas Tsimikas is ‘really looking forward’ to hearing his chant sung by ‘the fans inside Anfield!’

Kostas Tsimikas is possibly one of the rarest examples of a modern Liverpool player, where he has a chant that is widely known but has not been sung by a crowd inside Anfield.

Speaking to the club’s website, the 26-year-old said: “I’m very happy about it,” he said. “But I haven’t heard it in the stadium yet, so I’m really looking forward to hearing it from the fans inside Anfield!

“The words say, ‘Tsimi, Tsimi, Tsimi, oh Kostas Tsimikas, his passport says he’s Greek but we know he’s Scouse!’ to the tune of the ABBA song Gimme Gimme Gimme.

“I think ‘Tsimi, Tsimi, Tsimi’ is better than the original song! I am very, very happy about that and it makes my time here in Liverpool more special.”

The Greek is clearly so passionate about winning over our fans and hearing his name sung by them, emotion shining through his words.

Our left back wrote his name in our history when he fired the winning penalty against Chelsea during the FA Cup Final at Wembley and surely that justifies his name being in the lights.

Now that he is enjoying his international break with the Greece national team, let’s hope he can stay fit and in good shape, for the restart of national football.

With Andy Robertson out with a knee injury and the former Olympiacos player in such good form, this is a great opportunity to secure more first-team football for the Reds.

He continues to impress Jurgen Klopp in training and during games, then it won’t be long before we hear his name echoing around Anfield Road.
