Klopp gives an update on further transfer activity in the January window

Despite the fact that the official signing of Cody Gakpo has not yet been completed, Jurgen Klopp is already being asked about further transfer transactions in January and, in particular, about the chances of us signing a midfielder next month.

Facing the media before our game with Leicester City, the manager provided the following update: “I really liked what Pep Lijnders said, ‘we discuss these things in the boardroom and not in the press room’ .

“On top of that, bringing Cody the way we brought him, for example, is again a very good sign.

“Especially the work Jules [Ward] he made was outstanding.

“A lot of people were involved and they knew it and nothing came of it, which is very, very helpful across all departments.

“I think that worked for us quite often and that’s why you won’t really expect me to answer your question.”

To a large extent, the German kept his cards close to his chest, but went on to say that there is still money to be spent if the right player comes along.

It certainly wasn’t a statement that the transfer business wouldn’t be completed anymore, but we’ll all have to wait and see what happens at the end of January.
