Klopp admits Jota injury ‘pretty serious’ – doesn’t want to put a timeline on it

Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Liverpool will be without Diogo Jota for several months, which is why the Portuguese international will not attend the next World Cup in Qatar.

This comes courtesy of the manager’s latest comments in his pre-match press conference, as relayed on Twitter by James Pearce and Paul Joyce.

It’s a devastating blow for the Reds given that they recently lost Luis Diaz to a similar long-term injury.

The silver lining, weak as it may be, will be that the club is not completely devoid of options capable of filling the left flank with the potential options of Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez.

Klopp may yet be forced into another line-up change beyond that, an adjustment he’ll want to avoid now that his Liverpool side appear to be dominating things.

Still, it’s a stark turn of events for a player who appeared to be finding his groove once again after returning from an injury to the same leg.

Hopefully, it will be a quicker-than-expected recovery for the former Wolves man and he can have a considerable impact on proceedings in the second half of the campaign.
