Could it be that the “Trent Alexander-Arnold can’t defend” narrative has breathed its last?
We’ll have to wait and see on that front, although it’s a pleasure to see Scouser get the credit he deserves for a stellar performance in both departments.
The Daily Mail’s Dominic King praised the England international on X (formerly Twitter) for his latest performance against Arsenal as the Reds won 2-0 in the FA Cup.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been absolutely majestic. It’s quite a sight to see the defender who can’t defend, never miss a beat with his defense and then move into the midfield and execute things.

Trent’s defensively reliable performance
It has to be said that there were a couple of challenging moments against Gabriel Martinelli, although overall we were quite pleased with how well our number 66 performed at the Emirates Stadium.
Trent’s FT stats (this Liverpool defense is something else) 🤯
3 clearances 2 blocked shots 3 tackles 4/7 ground duels won 2/2 aerial duels won 78% passing percentage (43/55) 2 key passes

The stats certainly indicate as much, and the 25-year-old was equally integral for Jurgen Klopp going forward, with a late free kick causing chaos (and an own goal) in the Arsenal box.
As always, questions about his best position for this football club will (and have already) dominated the post-match chatter, but let’s not forget to appreciate Alexander-Arnold for exactly what he is.
A world-class footballer and full-back, probably the best right-back the English top flight has ever seen.
