Juventus want to lure Diogo Dalot away from Manchester United – Man United News And Transfer News

Diogo Dalot seems to be the current flavor of the month among the European giants.

The Portuguese right-back has started the season in top form, appearing in all of Erik ten Hag’s games in charge of Manchester United so far.

His contract is set to expire in June 2023, however United have the option to automatically extend Dalot’s stay for a further year.

Fabrizio Romano has provided several updates on Dalot’s immediate and long-term future.

Although Dalot is said to remain firmly in Ten Hag’s future plans at Old Trafford, Barcelona are said to be actively circling the right back having compiled various scouting reports.

Romano hinted that the delay in negotiations on the renewed contract is partly due to this winter’s World Cup, even though Dalot’s side and United bosses remain on friendly terms.

Barcelona are ready to make the right-back position an urgent priority to fill with a quality player, with Dalot at the top of their list.

Meanwhile, Calciomercato reported that Juventus are ready to join the chase and try to bring the 23-year-old to Turin.

Full-backs Juan Cuadrado and Alex Sandro are already confirmed to leave the Allianz Stadium at the end of the season.

Dalot’s excellent ball control, his desire to advance with the ball and his versatility (he played at left-back for Porto’s reserve team on several occasions) have led Juventus to mark him as one of the main targets to watch.

The publication also named AS Roma, which is the coin managed by former United manager José Mourinho, the same man who brought his compatriot to Manchester in 2018, as an interested party.

It has also been alleged that Dalot’s agency is actively looking for a potential new club for his client. Whether this is a game to force United to offer Dalot a big contract, or a genuine attempt to seek fresher pastures, has yet to be confirmed by mainstream journalists.

Dalot has already experienced life in Serie A after playing on loan at AC Milan during the 2020/21 season.

However, he has since regained a starting role in the United team, following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

The Norwegian coach preferred to play with Aaron Wan-Bissaka to adapt to a counterattacking style of play.

The £50m Londoner was quickly turned down by Ten Hag in favor of Dalot due to the former’s vastly inferior technical skills.

United may have to speed up their talks with Dalot’s agents rather than wait until the New Year if they want to retain Ten Hag’s ideal right-back. United Matchday Magazine – The Ultimate Match Experience Take a seat for the Omonia game. Get instant access to the best United magazine online!
