Juventus open to offers for Weston McKennie in January

Juventus are reportedly ready to listen to offers for Weston McKennie. The Spanish outlet Marca, through various Italian sources, claims that the midfielder has become a surplus at the club. McKennie appeared quite regularly for Max Allegri this season. Still, the manager sanctions a sale in January.

The United States men’s national team midfielder started nine of his 12 Serie A matches. McKennie has also featured regularly in the team’s failed Champions League debacle.

Pogba’s return could hinder McKennie’s playing time

However, French midfielder Adrien Rabiot is Allegri’s first choice for the job. This is particularly true as Paul Pogba was sidelined for the early part of the season due to injury. However, Pogba will soon be back on the pitch while he recovers from surgery. Assuming the former Manchester United player can stay fit, Juve would have too many players in midfield.

Marco Canterio, editor-in-chief of Tuttomercato, recently stated that Allegri prefers to sell McKennie to Rabiot. However, the American’s wage demands could hinder a potential move. “Allegri prefers to sell [McKennie] instead of Adrien Rabiot but the American, to the suitors who have approached so far, asks for too high a salary”, wrote Canterio in .

Despite salary concerns, there should be plenty of suitors for McKennie. The aforementioned report suggests that a transfer fee for the USMNT star could be in the range of $20-$25 million. This is quite a reasonable fee for a talented international star who is still only 24 years old.

A trio of big clubs are reportedly set to attack Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.

Tottenham Hotspur have had links with McKennie for a few months. Spurs director of football Fabio Paratici is reportedly an admirer of the midfielder. Paratici also previously worked at Juve for more than a decade.

Along with Spurs, Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea are also rumored to be interested in signing McKennie. UMSNT fans will be hoping the midfielder can secure a regular starting spot wherever he goes.
