Juventus lookind to extend Danilo’s contract beyond 2024Juvefc.com

After joining Juventus in 2019, Danilo initially struggled to make a positive impact under the tutelage of Maurizio Sarri. The Brazilian landed in Turin following a swap deal with Manchester City that saw Joao Cancelo head in the opposite direction.

However, the 31-year-old made huge strides in the following campaigns, establishing himself as one of the club’s most important figures on and off the pitch.

The former Real Madrid man is originally a right-back, but can also serve throughout the backline, with Max Allegri occasionally deploying him as a holding midfielder.

According to ilBianconero, Juventus are now looking to extend Danilo’s contract beyond its current expiration date.

The Brazilian international has a contract until June 2024, but according to the source, the club is contemplating whether to renew it until 2025 or 2026.

The report adds that the two parties have been negotiating the extension of the contract for almost a year.

Juve FC says

After cementing his role as a reliable defender and warrior worthy of the captain’s armband in the future, retaining Danilo’s service is the right decision, especially amid the lack of genuine leaders in the current squad.

But perhaps a long-term deal could end up backfiring, as we’ve seen other veteran players take advantage of their long deals to outstay their welcome.

Therefore, a new contract until 2025 sounds like the most reasonable call.
