Juventus could be banned from UEFA competitions

After losing 15 points in the current Serie A season due to financial irregularities, Juventus now risk being banned from any European competition.

Football Italia has made reference to the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper stating that the Old Woman could be penalized for “unsportsmanlike conduct”.

In addition, Juventus could also face a new trial after being accused of paying salaries under the table following the Covid pandemic. If the allegations are proven to be true, that the club paid salaries in secret and left no trace in its financial documents, UEFA will review and take into account the new figures in its balance sheet.

Fines for fair play could increase

The report also claims that Juventus, who were fined €3.5m in 2021 for failing to meet financial fair play parameters, could now see that number rise to €23m if found guilty of failing to comply. the rules in the next three years.

This would mean that the bianconeri would be excluded from European competitions for more than one season, according to the figures.

European Classification Doubtful

However, the possible ban will only come into effect if Juventus qualify for a European place. At the time, the Old Lady was in second place in the Serie A standings, but now with the 15-point penalty, they sit in tenth place with 22 points from 18 games and 12 points adrift for a spot in the Champions League.

However, they could qualify for the Europa League next season as they are 6 points behind Udinese in seventh place.

On Friday, the Italian FA announced that the Bianconeri had manipulated the transfer finances and sanctioned the club along with 11 executives including directors and board members who were also banned for an extended period.

The club has been accused of false accounting and market manipulation in recent financial statements and was under scrutiny by prosecutors and the Italian market regulator CONSOB.

Juventus have formally filed an appeal against the sanction and it remains to be seen what awaits the Turin team.
