Juventus consider Atletico’s Giminez, but face strong competitionJuvefc.com

Following the departures of Giorgio Chiellini and Matthijs de Ligt last summer, the Bianconeri defense has been anything but reassuring, despite the arrival of the formidable Gleison Bremer.

Leonardo Bonucci is in rapid decline, while Federico Gatti still has a lot to learn, forcing Max Allegri to swap out original full-backs Danilo and Alex Sandro for makeshift centre-backs.

For this reason, Juventus will resort to the market to reinforce the area that has always been the club’s main weapon.

According to TuttoJuve, the Turin giants are considering a trade for José Maria Giminez.

The 27-year-old has been an Atlético Madrid stalwart for many years. He signed for the Spanish capital back in 2013 and has a contract until 2025.

However, the source notes that Roma and Tottenham Hotspur are also in the picture.

Juve FC says

Giminez would be a great signing for Juventus. Although he is still relatively young, he has already accumulated a wealth of experience during his nine years on Diego Simeone’s court. He also has 78 caps for the Uruguayan national team.

However, Atletico are surely not going to give up on him that easily, so Juventus will have to pay a hefty transfer fee if they really want to stand a chance of landing their reported transfer target.
