Serie A giants Juventus may reportedly get rid of Weston Mckennie to land one of their main targets, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
After beginning his football journey at the Grazer AK academy, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic became a part of Vojvodina’s youth setup. Milinkovic-Savic soon rose through the ranks and graduated from the Vojvodina academy. After his graduation, he was promoted to the main team where he played only one season.
He won the Serbian Cup with Vojvodina and later joined the Belgian team Genk. At Genk, Milinkovic-Savic gradually continued to develop him. The Serb spent one season at the club and made 24 league appearances.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic signed for Italian club Lazio at the start of the 2015/16 season. He soon became not only one of the most important players on his roster, but also established himself as one of the best players in the entire division. He has helped Lazio win one Coppa Italia and two Italian Super Cup titles so far. Milinkovic-Savic has already played more than 250 games for the Italian club.
Juventus can sacrifice Mckennie for Milikovic-Savic
Throughout the last few years, Sergej Milinkovi-Savic has been rumored with many big clubs. However, a move to a bigger club has never happened so far.
Now his contract with Lazio is coming to an end in the next few years. So looking at this situation, Lazio’s Serie A rivals Juventus are keeping an eye on him.
The midfielder is currently valued at 120 million euros by his club Lazio and according to its president they will listen to offers that exceed 100 million euros.
After a decade of dominance in Serie-A, Juventus are currently going through a period of transition. The Binaconeri have only won three of their first nine games in Serie A. They currently struggle in eighth place in the table with thirteen points.
To put more context, Juventus lost three of their first four UEFA Champions League group stage games for the first time in their history. This also includes a humiliating defeat against Israeli club Maccabi Haifa.
The Juventus management understands the situation very well. He knows perfectly well that his team will need more quality signings to be able to compete in the Serie-A. Therefore, they have targeted multiple players, with Serge Milinkovic-Savic being one of the main targets for them.
Juventus will not be able to sign the midfielder before selling one of their own. So, according to TuttoJuve, they are ready to sacrifice Weston McKennie to prepare a bid for the Serb.
Mckennie arrived in Turin during the 2020/21 season. However, the American has not lived up to his potential so far. He believes that he has many suitors in the Bundesliga and that he can easily give them decent money.
Now, signing Milinkovic-Savic will not be an easy task for them. But if they manage to get hold of him, it will be a huge boost for them.
