Juventus back Allegri as Conte rumors continue to swirl

Juventus have endured a difficult season so far. The normally consistent Italian club currently sits sixth in the Serie A standings. Juve are not used to being so far down the table. After all, the Old Lady racked up nine consecutive Serie A titles between 2012 and 2020.

Along with their domestic problems, Juve have also suffered in the Champions League. They were recently eliminated from the group stage of the competition following a 4-3 loss to Benfica earlier this week.

Even a Europa League qualification is not yet set in stone for Juve. The Italians should have a better result in the Champions League next week than Maccabi Haifa. The two clubs are currently level on points in the group stage. Juve, however, are due to face mighty Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

Juventus back Allegri despite pressure from fans

Despite the club’s abnormal drop in form, Juve are publicly backing manager Massimiliano Allegri. Former star Pavel Nedved, and current vice president of the club, told DAZN that they have faith in his coach.

“Our position is always the same. What we always said, the club, the players and everyone have full confidence in coach Allegri”, Nedved said. “It’s normal when Juve don’t get the victories expect names to come out in the media, there will probably be more, but we remain firm in our position. We will give him the opportunity to do his job and do it well.”

Current Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is rumored to be Juve’s next manager should Allegri get the axe. Conte has history with the Old Lady, as he was previously the club’s manager from 2011 to 2014. He also played more than 400 games in total for Juve as a midfielder.

Conte’s current contract with the Spurs expires at the end of the campaign. Although the North London side want to re-sign their manager, Conte has resisted. If the Juve job opens up next summer, it may be hard for your former player to turn down the opportunity.
