On the undercard of the WBO AP 140-pound title fight, the talented 115-round fighters made a highly competitive collision in a split draw (77-75, 75-77, 76-76) over eight on Tuesday at Tokyo Japan. Undefeated ex-amateur bright prospect Kantaro Juri (4-0-1, 2 KOs), 114.5, was surprisingly tied with WBO AP#14 junior bantamweight Danrick Sumabong (12-2-1, 9 KOs), 114, plus a eight of give and take. It was a see-saw affair with taller southpaw Juri occasionally connecting with solid lefts, while Sumabong landed strong right hand counterattacks on the Japanese rival. Juri recently defeated former two-time world title challenger Masayuki Kuroda (he later retired) in his fourth pro fight this January and intended to take the Filipino’s WBO AP rating this time around. It is possible that they will exchange gloves in the near future.
