Jurgen Klopp reflects on Diogo Jota injury blow

Liverpool beat Manchester City 1-0 yesterday in the Premier League.

The Reds produced one of their best performances of the season to hand Pep Guardiola his first loss of the campaign. The win moves them up to eighth in the league table and they hope to move closer to the Champions League places in the coming weeks.

Liverpool put on a complete performance and excelled in both defense and attack.

It has been a difficult season for the Merseyside giants and they have had a number of injury problems which have affected their performances in recent months.

Although victory over Manchester City will give them a huge confidence boost, the occasion has been marred by yet another injury to the Reds.

Portuguese international Diogo Jota was injured towards the end of the match and the 26-year-old had to be stretchered off the pitch. The true extent of the injury is not yet known, but Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp seemed concerned about the situation during his post-match press conference.

Jota worked tirelessly against Manchester City and put in an outstanding performance for Liverpool. A prolonged sacking for the Portuguese striker would be a huge blow to Liverpool, especially with Luis Diaz already sidelined for a few months.

Klopp told the club’s official website: “Diogo, I wish I didn’t have to talk about it. I saw it on the side of the screen, I’m the first who saw it.

“When I saw that he went down and there wasn’t a lot of contact, you can see a little bit of someone kicking his foot and maybe the muscle was stretched too much, 96 minutes, that’s not good for the muscle. She felt it right away and now we have to wait to see how bad it is.”
