Journalist weighs in on Liverpool’s chances of signing potential Salah replacement

After a disappointing season in which he has so far scored just seven league goals in 19 appearances, Liverpool may reportedly be keen to part ways with winger Mo Salah and replace him with Juventus’ Federico Chiesa.

That’s according to a report earlier this year by Italian outlet Calciomercato Web, who claimed that Jurgen Klopp could be considering reinventing his attack and that could lead to the eventual sale of the 30-year-old Salah.

Although Salah has been a mainstay in the Reds’ team since he arrived from Roma in 2017, after several seasons of notable contributions, the poor run of this season, in which the Egyptian is not alone, has meant that his absence in a way that is even more evident.

Although Salah remains a steady starter for Klopp, after failing to score in the Premier League since Boxing Day, the 30-year-old’s struggles in front of goal are hampering his team’s attempts to get back into the top four. .

Consequently, if his form does not improve, Salah could again see his long-term future threatened and, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who spoke on the recent reports, Liverpool, who are known to admire Chiesa, could look to ‘ capitalize’ on the financial problems of the Old Lady, who recently took 15 Serie A points from them.

“Maybe in the summer, you could have players like Liverpool and other Premier League clubs looking at it and seeing if they can capitalize on Juventus’ financial situation,” O’Rourke told GiveMeSport.

Since joining Juventus from Fiorentina in 2020, Chiesa, who has two years left on his contract, has featured in 69 games, in all competitions, directly contributing to 35 goals along the way.
