Journalist makes huge Man United discovery on World Cup boss’ phone

A Dutch journalist at the World Cup made a big discovery about Manchester United after finding a manager’s phone in a hotel bathroom.

In a slightly bizarre story published by The Mirror, it has been claimed that De Telegraaf football writer Valentijn Driessen found the mobile phone of Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal in a hotel bathroom, where he discovered that the Former Man United boss had two missed calls from a caller ID that read ‘Manchester United’.

Driessen immediately returned Van Gaal’s phone, claiming that the Dutch coach was not all that impressed that the journalist found it.

This is seen as the Premier League club intensifying its search for PSV striker Cody Gakpo, with whom United are strongly linked.

According to talkSPORT, Man United are reportedly considering a £50m move in January for the 23-year-old, who is currently shining at the World Cup.

In addition to his excellent form for the Netherlands, Gakpo has been a star at club level this season, contributing 13 goals and 17 assists in just 24 games in all competitions.

Man United have only one player with the Dutch national team in Qatar, Tyrell Malacia, so these calls seem to have another purpose.
