Jota ‘isn’t expected’ to be back for possibly two more months

Diogo Jota and Luis Díaz would be two great additions to any team in world football, but both have struggled with fitness this year and it looks like it could be a matter of months before we see either of them return.

As reported by James Pearce for The Athletic: “Diogo Jota is not expected to play again until the end of January or perhaps February due to a serious calf injury, and the continued absence of that talented duo will reduce Klopp’s ability to rotate during a grueling period”. ‘.

This adds to the news that has already been reported about Luis Díaz’s possible absence until March due to a knee injury that requires him to undergo surgery, before he can return to the Reds.

Our number 20 has been missing since the memorable win over Manchester City in mid-October, so the news that he could now be absent for a full four months is a blow to all.

Having Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez and Bobby Firmino as replacements for the pair is certainly not bad news, but the inability to rotate the front three could lead to more fitness issues in the weeks and months to come.

Jurgen Klopp will be very disappointed to see our front line so paralyzed at the moment and some will point to the decision to allow Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino to leave the club, without signing backup replacements.

So there may be an opportunity for Ben Doak to shine in the coming months, and despite being so young, he could really announce himself for the Reds.

For now, our fingers are crossed that our new club doctor can keep current players fit and get affected players back on the pitch as soon as possible.
