Joshua Zirkzee: Arsenal join race to sign Manchester United striker target – Man United News And Transfer News

1

Arsenal have reportedly joined the race to sign the Bologna forward and have reported Manchester United target Joshua Zirkzee.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person reported that Zirkzee has “risen to the top” of United’s January transfer wish list.

Erik ten Hag is understood to be interested in strengthening his options in the attacking department.

Rasmus Hojlund has found it difficult to adapt to the Premier League, where he only has one goal.

Anthony Martial has missed several games through illness and it has been widely suggested that the Frenchman will leave Old Trafford this month or in the summer transfer window.

Players like Marcus Rashford, Antony and other forwards on the club’s roster have struggled for consistent results this season.

Combine this with the fact that Jadon Sancho has officially left United to join Borussia Dortmund on loan and it’s easy to see why the Red Devils are looking for reinforcements.

Bologna Marco Di Vaio recently spoke about the growing interest in Zirkzee from parties such as United.

He explained that the goalscorer is unlikely to leave the Serie A team in January and that proposals from rivals will not be tolerated or considered.

Di Vaio also confirmed that Bayern Munich, who sold Zirkzee to Bologna in 2022, have a release clause. [€40m]contained in the player’s contract.

According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are weighing up a move for the 22-year-old as confidence fades in landing number one target Ivan Toney.

It is understood that Mikel Arteta, like Ten Hag, wants to acquire the services of another talisman. Players like Toney and Victor Osimhen, who are on the Gunners’ radar, are proving too expensive.

Arsenal are also willing not to violate the rules of Financial Fair Play.

It is for these reasons that the north London club has turned its attention to Zirkzee. Bologna are said to want a £50m fee to part with their star.

Zirkzee has scored seven goals this season in Italy’s top flight.
